Morning Star: Meditations on Hope in Christ is a 2-disc album featuring 30 hymns including a Latin chant melody, several spirituals, a new text by Kilby Beisner, and three new tunes by Susan Powell.

Organized into twenty-two arrangements, the hymns follow the progress of every Christian's experience. Beginning with the saving work of Christ (O Sacred Head, Now Wounded) it moves to calling, confession, and repentance and then to devotion to Christ. The first disc closes with Christina Rossetti's hymn None Other Lamb, hinting at the themes of the second disc. The second disc features themes of pilgrimage, strength and weariness, darkness and light, and the Christian's ultimate consolation: hope for heaven.
